Please join us at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the Town of Eden’s new all-inclusive playground at Swartz Field.
The playground is Phase I of the improvements slated for Swartz Field. The entire project, which will include a new fitness trail and ADA-compliant sidewalk, is scheduled to be finished next spring.
Volunteers from the community erected the playground Sept. 20, and the contractor put on the finishing touches, including a blue and sand colored rubber surface, in the weeks that followed.
The town was awarded more than $800,000 in grants to fund the improvements.
This project is funded in part by a grant of up to $529,000 from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation through Title 9 of the Environmental Protection Act of 1993 (EPF #247200,) $250,000 from Erie County secured by Legislator John Mills, $50,000 from Erie County Community Development Block Grant Program and $50,000 from the Eden Community Foundation.
