The Town of Eden is hiring a part-time Buildings and Grounds Maintenance person. This is a year-long position. The job includes cleaning of town buildings, maintenance, repair and up keep of parks, cemeteries, sports fields, and other town properties. The pay rate for this position is $18-$20 per hour. Bley Road Closure Starting Oct. 23rd
The portion of Bley Road (CR 474) from Belknap Road to Mill Road will have a full
road closure. This closure will begin October 23, and has an anticipated completion date of
December 1. The road will be fully closed to all traffic. This closure is for the purpose of the
rehabilitation of Bley Road Bridge over Eighteenmile Creek. A signed detour will be posted.

Bulk Garbage Update
On Friday, the bulk garbage was not picked up on the west side of East Eden Road, Keller Road, Zenner Road, Mary Drive and part of Eckhardt Road due to mechanical failure of the bulk truck. These items will be picked up this week.

East Eden Road closure
Erie County will be closing a portion of East Eden Road between 8401 and 8368 (between Schintzius Rd. and Hardt Rd) to thru traffic for the replacement of a culvert pipe over a tributary to Eighteen Mile Creek. Only local traffic will be possible from either direction up to the location of the project. This closure will begin June 19th and has an anticipated completion date of July 28th. Detours will be posted. Please address any questions to Erie County Highway.

Hiring Summer Grounds and Maintenance
The Town of Eden is hiring for Summer Grounds and Maintenance; applications can be found at www.edenny.gov/recreation.
Description of work:
7:30am-4pm, Monday – Friday, weekends as needed (Schedules Vary); Now through Mid-August with additional hours/ days possible.
Must be 18 years of age or older. Yard maintenance (weed whacking, mowing, clean up) athletic field maintenance (line, mow, set bases, field repair), flower maintenance (water, trim, hang/ take down flower pots) and other light maintenance (may need to lift up to 50 lbs). Weekly hours average between 30 and 40. One week of unpaid vacation with prior approval per person.
Message for May 19th
We wanted to inform the public that tomorrow, Friday, May 19th the Eden Police Department along with various emergency services and the Eden School District will be sponsoring a “Dangers of Drinking and Driving Awareness Program” at the Eden American Legion Post. On or around the grounds there will be simulated crashes and emergency responses. Residents should expect to hear sirens and the Mercy Flight helicopter any time between 9:00 and 11:00 am. We appreciate your understanding and support of this very important presentation for our young residents.

2 Openings on Conservation Board
The Eden Conservation Advisory Board (CAB) is looking for 2 additional members.
This a volunteer group of nine (9) residents of the Town of Eden who have been appointed to 2-year terms by the Eden Town Board. The Conservation Advisory Board is structured in accordance with General Municipal Law Article 12-F, Section 239-x to advise the Town in the development, management and protection of its natural resources.
The board meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month except in July, August and December at 7:00 pm in the 2nd floor conference room of the Eden Town Hall. Stop by this Tuesday, Feb. 28th, and see if this board is for you.

The Town of Eden is actively looking for a Director of Recreation. This is a part-time position (19 hours per week). The candidate will have good knowledge of recreation theory and practices; good knowledge of the organization and operation of recreation facilities and equipment; working knowledge of municipal administration; ability to promote, plan and organize municipal recreation activities; good communication skills, ability to plan and supervise the work of others; sound professional judgment; ability to work well with the public and with groups of all ages; resourceful; dependable; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Minimum qualifications:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or N.Y. State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in physical education or recreation field; OR
- Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience as indicated in (a); OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.

Eden’s travel ban is lifted and moved to a travel advisory. Hamburg and Evans remain in travel bans and we ask that you do not travel there so their highway crews can continue clearing roads. The 219 and 90 remain close at this time.

We have had several calls for cars in ditches and accidents. Please stay off the roads. We are in a driving ban. No one should be on the roads except emergency personnel. Those not abiding by the ban are keeping our emergency services from getting to emergencies and putting them in danger. Again, please stay off the roads until further notice.
Storm Update
Currently we are under a blizzard warning through Sunday, December 25th at 7:00am. A driving ban for all of Erie County will begin at 9:30am. Only emergency personnel will be allowed on the roads. As of now, the garbage trucks are still picking up the routes. Please get your totes in as soon as they come by. Power outages will be widespread and restoration may take much longer than normal because this is a regional storm. If a warming shelter is needed, we will open one. Please check our town social media pages for important updates. Anyone in need of help, please call the town hall at 716-992-3408, ext. 1. We are asking everyone to stay home and safe. Due to the predicted snow for tomorrow, Friday, November 18th garbage pick up will be suspended. ATTENTION EDEN RESIDENTS
EDEN PLANNING BOARD & ZONING BOARD VACANCIES
As of January 1, 2023, there will be 4 available positions on the Planning Board (2 of which are alternate positions) and 4 available positions on the Zoning Board of Appeals (2 of which are alternate positions). If you are interested in serving as a volunteer on either of these boards, please go to our website for an application or call the Town Hall Building Department at 716-992-3408 Ext.123. Responsibilities of Planning Board members include reviewing site plans, major subdivisions and any matter referred by the Town Board for approval. Responsibilities of Zoning Board members include hearing appeals from decisions of the Town under the Zoning Code.

Oct. 31st: Trick or Treat hours
In the Town of Eden Trick or Treat will take place on Halloween, October 31st, from 6 – 8 pm.
Eden Central School Taxes Due Oct. 17th
Eden Central School Taxes are due Monday, October 17th. The Town Clerk’s Office will be open Friday 10/14 and Monday 10/17 from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Payments can also be made by drop box (check only) at either entrance to Town Hall or online at https://egov.basgov.com/eden/
Hiring a Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Person
Town of Eden is Hiring
The Town of Eden is hiring a part-time (19 hours a week) Buildings and Grounds Maintenance person. The job includes cleaning of town buildings, maintenance, repair and up keep of parks, cemeteries, sports fields and other town properties. Candidates should possess excellent communication, time management, technical and mechanical skills. Pay rate is $17-$20 an hour depending on experience.
